“I will be glad and rejoice in thee.  I will sing praise to thy name.”

— Psalm 9:2

At Wesley Memorial UMC,

our Purpose is ...

To support the spoken Word. The anthems are chosen

according to the liturgical seasons of the church year and

the scripture lessons of the day.

To incorporate a variety of musical worship traditions each Sunday. The choir leads in the singing of hymns, psalms and service responses. They pray on behalf of the people through choral or handbell anthems.

To make music an integral part of our fellowship as

a church family, open to all who desire to worship Christ

through music. Each of our musical ensembles seek to educate

and spiritually invigorate all participants who give their time

so graciously to this vital ministry. We offer many opportunities

for non-members and church members of all ages.

The Handbell Ensemble play an average of two pieces a month. Knowledge of very basic rhythm patterns (whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes) is helpful, but not required.

Handbell Ensemble rehearsals are also Wednesday evening. They start at 6:00 and conclude at 7:00.

The Chancel Choir’s primary responsibility is providing music for the 11:00 Sunday morning worship service. Participation is open to anyone interested in leading worship through singing!

Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings, 7:15 - 8:45. We gather on Sunday mornings at 10:30 to warm up and review our selections for the 11:00 worship service.

Feel free to join at anytime!

We are open to beginning and

experienced musicians alike.

Nothing frees one for the Spirit like music. Come and join us!

Don’t sing, or ring, but play an instrument? There are several ways you can tap into your musical self and share that with the worshipping congregation.

If you have a musical talent to share, contact our organist, Linda Hansen at musician@centurylink.net

Choral Scholarship

Wesley Memorial UMC offers four annual Choral Scholarships to college students who join our choir.  We look for one each of SATB, but will gladly welcome other combinations of singers.

The commitment is one rehearsal each week on Wednesday evenings beginning at 7:00 and ending at 8:00, Sunday morning warm-up at 10:30 and worship at 11:00.

Each Choral Scholar will receive $175 per month September through May.

Please contact our Minister of Music, Cameron Pampus, for further information or to apply.
