Church Council Minutes – September 17, 2018
Attending: Isaac Collins, Debbie Miller, Todd Shelton, David Sandridge, Maury Early, Sue Lewis, Andrea Zimmerman, Fred O’Bryant, Jim Lambert
- Opening remarks with prayer
- Review July Council meeting and Charge Conference minutes a. Debbie moved to approve minutes; Maury seconded. All others approved.
- Committee Reports

- Mold in Mollie Michie. The rest of cost will come from the education and sanctuary budget.
- MCW gave $300 toward Pride Festival. Other donations should cover most of the costs associated with booth.
- Banner paid out of marketing/communications and hospitality (approximately only $70 from hospitality)
- Paid singers initiative is receiving donations
- New sign approval for front of the church. Need first half of payment upfront. Will come out of endowment fund
- 2015 Capital Campaign funds-can they be repurposed?

- Fall festival with details to come.

- Aldersgate Circle resumed meeting in September
- Maury will attend a district UMW meeting in a few weeks.
- MCW
- Could use help with gleaning on Saturday
- Fall Festival instead of BBQ on October 26 6:30-8:30 pm. Mollie Michie will co-sponsor. Students at the Wesley Foundation will be asked to help. It will be a community outreach event to get new people at the church. It will be a fun time for families with a focus on the children. Admission fee will be charged. Cause for raised funds: Congregate Cville.

- Mold is fixed in the S and SW walls in the Mollie Michie room. Mollie Michie has purchased a dehumidifier to prevent other issues. Huge amounts of effort by Buck, Gina, Jim, and others to mitigate the damage to the walls.
- Starnes basement flooded. Will be a replacement of a sump pump and dryer.
- Pastor Isaac
- We have identified questions for the congregation and will have a day (September 30th) when congregants can write answers. Information will also be used in November for the stewardship to say, “When you said X was going well at Wesley, your contributions can make this even more…”
- Book discussion about millennials and reaching out to others, including building trust
- Next meeting, October 16 at 7:30 pm.
