from the Pastor’s Pen….
Wesley Memorial is thriving! With 2016 showing signs of health in increased membership and giving, we celebrate what God is doing in and through our church family. In that spirit, the Church Council has agreed to hold a Church Leadership Retreat on Saturday, February 25. All church leaders, not only Council members, are urged to attend. If you are on a committee, team or board, we encourage you to come as we consider what is next for our congregation. We will receive the responses from the interest survey conducted by our Dream Team. We will hear what some of the pressing issues are within our congregation and our surrounding community. And we will put these important pieces together to set a course for the coming year, and perhaps even beyond!
This is an important time in the life of our congregation and this is a critical gathering and planning session. If you are a church leader, please make attendance at this retreat a priority. Here are the details:

PACEM Comes to Wesley Memorial
In our community there are homeless people who have no warm place to sleep; this is where PACEM acts.
PACEM (People and Congregations Engaged in Ministry) is a group of local congregations forming an interfaith coalition to provide overnight shelter and food for the homeless during the winter months. Individual congregations rotate serving as hosts. Each host congregation provides an evening meal and a safe, warm place to sleep. PACEM, now in its 13th season, consists of two shelter programs operating in parallel, one for men and the other for women.
Wesley Memorial, a charter member of PACEM, participates as a host congregation for men. During the period of March 11 – 25, 2017 we will host approximately 45 guests for 12 hours each night downstairs in our fellowship hall. We will be joined by our partner congregation, Christ Episcopal Church. We set up cots, prepare and serve food, spend fellowship time with our guests, stay overnight, launder clothing and towels, donate needed supplies and cash, etc. Please be a part of this important ministry and help make PACEM’S vision, “a pillow for every head”, and mission of compassionate support a reality in our community.
A sign-up sheet for needed supplies is in the Aldersgate room at the rear of the sanctuary. Those items are needed by March 6. To help in person, please complete the sign up below, checking all that apply, and place it in the offering plate or give to one of the Ministry to the Community and World contacts listed below. Thanks.
